The most common side effects of ingredients in BriteSMART® and BriteSHIELD® are:
- Nausea
- Upset stomach
- Headaches
- Sleep loss
These side effects may affect a small percentage of users depending upon a broad variety of pre-disposing factors, including individual sensitivities, food present in the stomach, medications and/or other supplements taken concomitantly, stress levels, proclivity towards migraine headaches, stomach ulcer, and others.
Unless cleared by a physician, BriteSMART® and BriteSHIELD® should not be used by individuals with a diagnosis of arrhythmias, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder or manic disorder, epilepsy or seizure disorders, hemophilia, migraines or by individuals using drugs categorized as anti-psychotics, anti-dementia (cholinesterase inhibitors, NMDA antagonists), anti-coagulants such as acenocoumarol, clopidogrel (Plavix™), dalteparin (Fragmin™), enoxaparin (Lovenox™), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid™), and warfarin (coumadin), anti-platelet aggregation, coagulants and MAO Inhibitor agents.
Individuals taking prescription drugs containing beta blockers for heart conditions should be aware that Rhodiola, one of the six ingredients in BriteSMART® , may affect beta blockers and thereby possibly stimulating heart rate. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not take BriteSMART® and BriteSHIELD® . If anyone has an existing medical condition(s) and/or is taking medications such as prescription drugs, a physician should be consulted prior to taking BriteSMART® and BriteSHIELD® .
